The will be two important Olympic exhibitions during the Rio Games, according to SPI member, and well-known Olympic collector, Roberto Gesto de Mello. The two exhibitions are:

Olympic Memorabilia. All the torches, medals, posters and many other items of the modern Olympics and international major events. Additionally, the exhibition will show about 2,000 artifacts related to the Egyptian Old Kingdom (including a limestone relief circa 2686 - 2125 BC), plus amphoras, vases, coins and sculptures from Ancient Greece, the Etruscan civilization, and Ancient Rome. This exhibition is being held at:

Caixa Cultural Center

Central Rio

Exposition of Jewels and Curiosities of Olympic and Sports Philately. As the Olympic Organizing Committee was not planning on any kind of philatelic exhibition, Roberto was invited to present a small display of Olympic stamps and postal history. Due to a limitation of space and lack of time, he selected only a few special pieces from each Olympic Games. So as to be of interest to the general public, he has selected items that would appeal to everyone including some extremely rare items displayed together with curiosities and stamps attractive to younger visitors as well. This exhibition can be visited at:
