Ingrid O’Neil donates SPI Award

1984 Olympic Games Royal Doulton Plate to be awarded
This year’s SPI Best-of-Show Award has been generously donated by Ingrid O’Neil of Ingrid O’Neil Sports and Olympic Memorabilia in Huntington Beach, California.
The award will be presented to the best sports or Olympic exhibit at the Great American Stamp Show (GASS) 2022 to be held in Sacramento, California from August 24-27.
This colorful Los Angeles 1984 porcelain plate is made of fine bone china by Paragon, a member of the famed Royal Doulton Group in the U.K. It was created for the British Olympic Committee.
The plate measures 8.3″ in diameter and depicts 9 different Olympic sports contested at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games: pole vault, men’s and women’s gymnastics, three track events, judo, wrestling and swimming. The Olympic cauldron and flame are visible at center. The accompanying box (shown below) is equally decorative showing four sports images.
At the time of writing, there were no fewer than 7 sport/Olympic exhibits entered, with a mix of multi-frame and single frame.
