SPI Backyard Games cacheted FDC
SPI created a special cacheted cover for the First Day of the Backyard Games stamps which were issued on August 12 during the 2021 Great American Stamp Show (GASS) at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, near Chicago. The Backyard Games set of eight stamps honored the sports we all remember from childhood: baseball, cornhole, badminton, bocce, croquet, horseshoes, tetherball, and flying disk (better known by the registered trademark toy, Frisbee). The stamps were issued in sheets of 16 comprised of two of each of the stamps. While the USPS did not issue stamps for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, SPI acknowledges the Games with a cachet identifying three of the stamps as being playing at this year’s Olympics and/or Paralympics: baseball (Olympics), badminton (Olympics & Paralympics), and bocce (Paralympics).
TO ORDER: We have a few of the SPI cacheted FDCs with various stamps from the set. Cost is $3 each post-paid. E-mail requests to: markspi@prodigy.net
